    Carl (Chip) J. Lavie, MD, FACC, FACP, FCCP

    Dr. Lavie attended medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and completed his Internal Medicine training at Ochsner and Cardiology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He is currently Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention and Director of the Exercise Laboratories at the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute, Ochsner Clinical School-The University of Queensland School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Lavie’s research interests include cardiac rehabilitation and prevention, lipids, hypertension, obesity, and exercise, as well as noninvasive testing, encompassing echocardiography, exercise testing, and nuclear cardiology. He has authored over 1600 medical publications, including 2 cardiology textbooks, with an h-index of 138. He serves on 40 editorial boards, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the American Journal of Cardiology, and is Associate Editor and Cardiovascular Section Editor of the Mayo Clinic Proceedings. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases and is the author of the book The Obesity Paradox.
