Equitable Approaches to Menthol Tobacco Use Reduction
Dr. Amirala Pasha, an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN shares insights from his commentary appearing in the April 2023 issue of MCP:IQ&O, where he and co-author, Dr. Richard Silbert, conclude a menthol ban may ultimately be part of an effective tobacco control policy, however a ban should only be implemented once structural legal concerns are addressed, other harm reduction strategies have been employed and there is adequate buy-in from the community.
